Tavern On The Lake - Hightstown

Beautiful view outside, the food was pretty good but I do like the atmosphere. I will be back to come to the other events. This place might be a frequent spot to hang out. The salmon portion and couscous are too small.

Had a great dinner on the patio with our puppy! Had the taco salad and brisket sandwich. Both were excellent. My only complaint is that we were seated by a hostess who was very unhappy and then sat there ignored by the 4 wait staff on the patio for 20 min. Finally I flagged down one of them and she was gracious to help us even though she said she did not know who's table we were. I don't think we were anyone's table!

This was a great find. We went with a fairly large group and were accommodated on the patio. Everyone loved their meal and the portions were quite large. Our server Edward was efficient and kind - talk about a sweetheart. Prices may seem on the higher end but for the amount of food you receive, it’s a good value. They did have a kids menu which was great for our youngest.

Typical bar right off of the water. The have a nice big patio which I recommend sitting at as the inside is a bit cramped and can get loud. They do offer karaoke on Wednesday. Our server was really nice and friendly, she made some great food recommendations. The food itself was actually very good. The calamari was exceptional. Fairly priced. Overall great experience and would recommend to anyone look for a nice car spot.

I came here with some friends and we all had different meals, everybody enjoyed their food. The Old Heights Porch Tour cream ale brewed here in hightstown was my choice of poison this evening and I liked it! Enjoy the Brisket sandwich is really good. Enjoy it out there!

My wife and I are on the #eatjersey challenge to visit and have a meal in all 564 towns of NJ. We chose Tavern on the Lake for Hightstown, our 150th town. Great eats and comfort food in a place that is at the center of the town. They have a fantastic beer selection on draft that rotates over time. For the fall season, we had a Hot Toddy and Spiked Cider. The French dip sandwich and crab cakes were great. When there's warmer weather, they have a great outdoor patio too!

I must’ve passed Tavern By The Lake over a thousand time traveling for work. I am beyond pleased with the service, but especially the food. I had ordered the ribs and was very pleasantly impressed how the meat just melted off the bone. It’s been a long while since I enjoyed a properly cooked and prepared order of ribs. I asked my wife I she wouldn’t mind coming back tomorrow. It was that good. Totally recommend visiting and dinning in.

This is one of my favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to. The Tavern Burger is the best hamburger I’ve ever had. I would highly highly recommend.
